Dino Polska recaps business performance in Q1 2024

In Q1 2024 the Dino Group’s revenue totaled PLN 6.7 billion and was 20.3% higher than in Q1 2023. At the end of March 2024, the network consisted of 2,438 stores, 228 more than one year ago. The capital expenditures earmarked for the firm’s development totaled PLN 330 million. The Dino Group’s headcount climbed to 42.4 thousand employees.

In Q1 the Dino network opened 32 new stores. At the end of March 2024, there were 2,438 stores bearing Dino’s distinctive red logo in Poland. Thanks to their uniform format and convenient location they make it easier for consumers doing their daily shopping for groceries and other staples.

At the end of March 2024, the total selling area in Dino stores was 960.9 thousand square meters, up 10.5% from one year ago. Dino Polska’s capital expenditures are related mostly to the development of the network and of its logistics base. They totaled PLN 330 million in Q1 2024 and are up 6% over last year. The Dino Group’s cumulative capex spend over the last five years has topped PLN 6 billion.

Revenue in Q1 2024 totaled PLN 6.7 billion and was up 20.3% from one year ago. 41% of revenue came from the sales of fresh products, especially fruit and vegetables, bread and the fresh meat produced by the Agro Rydzyna meat processing plant. Fresh products are delivered to the Dino stores every morning.

The like-for-like (LfL) sales growth rate in stores in existence for at least one year was 11.9% in Q1 2024. It was driven both by the higher number of customers in Dino stores and by the higher number of products purchased during individual purchases.

“Every day we focus on ensuring that the offering in Dino stores satisfies consumer needs in a convenient and comprehensive manner. At the same time, we attach a lot of attention to offering products at attractive prices. The outcome of these efforts is robust sales growth and a higher number of customer visits. This motivates us to continue the network’s rapid development”, says Michał Krauze, Management Board of Dino Polska.

PV installations to provide our company with clean electricity have been a regular part of the equipment installed in newly-opened Dino stores. At the end of Q1 2024, 2,210 stores, representing 91% of Dino’s overall network had been outfitted with PV installations. Our own installations using renewable energy sources operate in three of the Group’s distribution centers. The total capacity of the RES installations owned by the Dino Group is 88.2 MW. In Q1 2024 Dino Polska sourced 10.4 GWh of solar power, some 37.4% more than in the corresponding period of 2023.
