Dino Polska in Q1 2022: higher customer traffic and new store openings contribute to high sales growth

In Q1 2022 the Dino grocery store network consistently grew its scale of business by opening 66 new stores. Geographic expansion coupled with its attractive product offering contributed to 32% more customer traffic in Dino stores versus Q1 2021 and 39.6% sales growth to PLN 3.85 billion on like-for-like sales growth of 20.4% in stores up and running for more than a year.

Dino Polska is concentrating on further dynamic expansion across all of the regions of Poland. The investment expenditures allocated for this purpose in Q1 of this year totaled PLN 336 million. At the end of March its network numbered 1,880 stores, thereby delivering more than 23% growth on an annual basis in the selling area. Concurrently, the headcount in the Dino Group climbed by 6.5 thousand people in 12 months to 33.4 thousand. The EBITDA result was nearly PLN 333 million. It was up 37.1% from Q1 2021.

“We are increasing the density of our store network to be in close proximity to where our clients live to make it easy for them to do their daily grocery shopping. Our wide offering of diverse and affordably priced products allows us to respond to consumers’ needs well and they are placing more and more trust in the Dino network”, says Izabela Biadała, Management Board Member.

DINO POLSKA S.A. is steadily making ecological investments to increase the percentage of green energy in the Dino Group’s overall electricity consumption. In keeping with its strategy, in Q1 2022 another 82 Dino stores were outfitted with PV panels. During the last 12 months the number of stores with PV installations has grown by nearly 400 (or 80%) to 884. As a result, the quantity of solar electricity generated by Dino was 5.1 GWh in Q1 2022. “Recent months have been a time of intense development in our network. The rapid growth in the scale of our business is opening up many opportunities for us and is bringing us closer to achieving our target for 2022 of opening more new stores than in 2021. The presence of PV installations on the rooftops of the stores the Company owns has become a standard”, remarks Michał Krauze, Management Board Member of DINO POLSKA S.A.
