Dino Polska in 2022: consumers’ record-breaking interest in what Dino stores have to offer

In 2022 Dino Polska continued its geographic expansion with the outcome being the opening of 344 new Dino stores. Geographic expansion is proceeding in line with the tried-and-true strategy we have been pursuing for years. Above all, it calls for increasing the density of stores in those areas where the network is already present and also gradually penetrating new areas. At the end of 2022 Dino Polska had 2,156 stores, some 19% more than in 2021.

“In 2022 we invested PLN 1.4 billion in development with Dino Polska’s cumulative capital expenditures over the last 5 years climbing to PLN 5.4 billion. At the same time, we created 5 thousand new jobs in 2022 and 24.3 thousand new jobs from 2018 to 2022”, says Michał Krauze, Management Board Member of Dino Polska.

A growing portion of the Company’s capital expenditures is earmarked to curtail its environmental impact. This can be observed on the rooftops of 1,700 Dino stores that are outfitted with their own PV installations (900 more than at the end of 2021). Their total capacity is 64 MW. In 2023 Dino Polska plans further investments in this area: on store rooftops and distribution centers alike.

In managing our network we focus on consistently listening to the needs of our consumers. These times of high inflation, supply chain turmoil and general uncertainty during the past year have called upon us to exert more effort to ensure a high level of availability of products at the best possible prices”, says Izabela Biadała, Management Board Member of Dino Polska.

The actions taken produced positive outcomes in the form of dynamic growth of LFL sales. In 2022 like-for-like sales (LfL; in stores in operation for more than a year) climbed 28.5% while total sales including newly-opened Dino stores shot up 48.2% to PLN 19.8 billion. In comparison with 2020 when the Company’s revenue totaled PLN 10.1 billion the size of the business has practically doubled.

“These numbers strongly motivate us to continue opening new Dino stores. Just as in prior years in 2023 we intend to earmark all of the earnings generated for development. We expect that this will translate into growth in the total Dino store count at a pace in the low double digits. Moreover, based on trends encountered at the beginning of the year and our efforts relating to our product and price offering, we are counting on being able to report strong double digit LfL sales growth for the second year in a row. At the same time, we will continue offering consumers an attractive price policy in Dino stores”, recaps Michał Krauze.
