Dino Polska has completed the installation of its 100th photovoltaic rooftop installation on Dino stores. 400 Dino stores across Poland are slated to be powered by solar energy in early 2021.
Through this investment Dino Polska intends to mount photovoltaic panels with a total capacity of 14 megawatts (MW) on the rooftops of 400 Dino stores throughout Poland. Executing this investment will enable Dino Polska to generate approximately 14 GWh of clean electricity from the sun per annum, thereby reducing its demand for energy from conventional sources. At present, the total capacity of the panels installed by Dino Polska is approximately 3.5 MW.
Dino Polska is pursuing a policy focused on steadily reducing the impact exerted by its business on the natural environment. Investments to obtain electricity from renewable sources and conserve and utilize natural resources rationally form the underlying pillars of this policy.
Through other investments in this field executed in 2019 Dino Polska completed the process of replacing conventional lighting in the sales area of Dino stores with LED lighting, which uses 40% less electricity. At present, it is running a project to replace the fixtures in the parking lots of older vintages of Dino stores with LED fixtures which use 75% less energy. The parking lots of new Dino stores have already been equipped with energy-efficient LED lighting.
